National Good Manners Day USA Survey 2008
This survey is intended to determine the importance of etiquette and manners in today's fast-paced world where basic consideration is too often forgotten.

1.
In order to begin a new conversation about manners, we'd like to know if you think that good manners and being polite are important in getting along in today's world?
Yes
No
2.
We live in a time where bad manners are running rampant. People are offending others without care. Here's an opportunity to select your biggest manners pet peeve:
People who show up late without apologizing
People who fiddle with their cell phones and Blackberry's during dinner
People who insist on using foul language
People who talk with their mouth full
People who do not respond to emails
People who cut in line
3.
Sometimes, however, people surprise us with a lovely, unexpected act of kindness. Which of the following courteous gestures ranks highest in your book?
Sending a thank you note after attending a dinner party
Holding the door open for someone behind you
Being a good listener to a friend in need
Offering a seat on the bus to the elderly or the sick
4.
The government could not function without designating certain rules and regulations. If the government was to pass one law pertaining to manners, I'd like it to be:
Making littering a serious crime
Adding etiquette and manners classes to every school's curriculum
Giving tax breaks to polite people
Demanding that politicians admit all personal indiscretions known or unknown
5.
Celebrities have a tendency to display the worst manners. In your mind, nobody's worse than:
Britney Spears - Barefoot in public and no underpants. Is this new mommy chic?
Paris Hilton - Sex tapes, DUI's and jail time. Heiress classy I think not!
Simon Cowell - So what if they can't sing, does he have to be so ruthless?
Tom Cruise - Jumping on Oprah's couch? Now that's just plain rude!

Let's not be too harsh. Use the space below to nominate the celebrity you think has done the most to promote good manners in the past year:

Seriously, though, manners are not a game. They are the glue that holds society together. They are like a GPS, giving us good directions and helping us find our way. And judging by our role models - our entertainers, our athletes, even our politicians - we need good manners desperately! As we celebrate the first ever "National Good Manners Day USA", let's all take a pledge to try to be a bit better in the coming year, a bit more mindful, a bit more polite.

WHEN YOU FINISH THE SURVEY YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO OUR WEBPAGE WHERE YOU CAN TAKE THE PLEDGE.
