| For quite some time, there has been a sense that we need to provide the alternative of a contemporary worship service at LTUMC. What's a contemporary worship service? Well, clearly that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, and there is a lot more detailed planning to be done before we'll be able to answer that question in detail. But in general, it is a service that speaks to the "heart strings" of people who worship through contemporary praise music. It is envisioned to be a worship service that makes extensive use of that type of music, more interactive and informal in format, but preserving important elements like the scripture reading, sermon, communion, offering....it may have less ritual liturgy and more multimedia than our more traditional worship services. Its exact format will be determined by a team of people over the next few months.
The current plan is that the contemporary service will be a new service between our current 8:30 and 11:00 AM services. To accommodate this new service, we may change the start times of one or both of our current services, by 15 or at most 30 minutes. Given this plan, we'd like to know how many of our current worship attendees expect to switch to this new contemporary service. |
