On October 21, 2008, a Business / Education Partnership Meeting was held at Clinton Community College, sponsored by Clinton Regional Development Corporation (CRDC), to begin discussions for the creation of a strong partnership to benefit high school students and local employers.

There is concern from employers that high school students should be trained to supply future employers' needs. The schools have a concern that high school students are not aware of the excellent jobs that are available in Clinton County.

A percentage of the students will not continue on to secondary education at the time of graduation and must acquire skills that assist them to remain and be productive citizens in the County. Another percentage of graduating students may be ready for additional education but may experience barriers to attending a higher-education institution immediately following graduation. And there is a third group who will attend a community college or university following graduation and can work locally during the college experience.

A pilot training program is being developed for high school students beginning in fall 2009. The program will be a partnership between companies, the community college, and high schools in the County.
However, there are questions that must be addressed prior to developing these programs, and YOU can help!
