Additionally, the number of operators 75 years and older has grown by 20 percent since 2002, while the number of operators under 25 years of age has decreased by 30 percent. Do you believe there should be programs to identify, develop and support the next generation of American farmers?

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has said that he believes that the USDA’s organic, conservation, and energy development programs have helped to increase the number of small farms in America. Do you believe that these programs should be continued and expanded in an attempt to help the decreasing number of midsized farms in America?

Congress is starting to consider health reform, and offering several health insurance plan options, including a government plan, is an idea popular with some congressmen. Others think that would create unfair competition because the government could offer better plans.
