HOW TO SURVIVE AND THRIVE IN TODAY'S ECONOMY

Cultural Heritage Tourism Survey

The recent recession is having a harsh impact on many sectors of the cultural and heritage tourism industry.  Budgets are being cut, visitation is not meeting projections, endowment returns have been slashed, and travel restrictions are limiting professional development opportunities to seek out new strategies to adapt to today's "new normal."

Amidst all the doom and gloom are rays of hope--cultural and heritage attractions that are finding creative new ways to adapt to changing times.  Thanks to a Chairman's Extraordinary Action Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Heritage Tourism Program is compiling a "Survival Toolkit" for cultural and heritage attractions to share stories about other cultural and heritage attractions that have successfully found new ways to survive-and thrive-in tough economic times.

This e-survey is our first step towards gathering success stories to share as part of this toolkit.
