Possesses extensive knowledge and practical experience in the presentation, topic area. Is familiar with a variety of childhood care and education settings, professional development, levels of participants, and adapts content as needed.
Current on content knowledge, emerging issues.
Knowledge base will vary and depend on goals, expected outcomes, audience needs, experience, social make up.
Researches the current trends in the topic area and synthesizes these findings to support learning objectives.
As with children, the trainer should be prepared to provide knowledge that meets what the learner is prepared to assimilate. Referring to Vygotsky's zone of proximal development.

Bases training content on accurate, current information consistent with sound theories and principles of child development.
Maintains resources that are current and topic-related to refer to concerning controversial issues, questions, or experiences (e.g., appropriate persons, agencies, publications).
Uses self-reflection and evaluation to improve subsequent programs.
