Thank you for agreeing to participate in this survey on the "Safety, Security and Well-Being of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection," conducted by the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University (HPCR).
The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the individual health needs and aspects of broader well-being of professionals serving on mission in often hazardous circumstances, as well as the systems in place to support them. To date there exists little systematic data with the consequence of only limited understanding and institutional capacities to adapt and improve on relevant practices and policies.
HPCR is conducting quantitative and qualitative research in this important area to promote the sharing of experience and learning among humanitarian practitioners, as part of its broader goal of building a community of practice and enhancing professional standards. The survey you are about to enter represents a critical component for collecting and assessing relevant information from affected professionals.
Participation in this survey is strictly voluntary and without financial compensation. The data will be stored and analyzed anonymously, with all identifiable information removed, and is reported only in aggregate form. HPCR will share its findings transparently, including through academic publications and other contributions to facilitate debate among researchers, practitioners and policy makers. Within the context of this project, the Program will also inform humanitarian professionals of upcoming live web discussions on Health and Security on Mission.
Any questions related to this survey should be addressed to the Principal Investigator, Claude Bruderlein, Director of the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research (cbruderl@hsph.harvard.edu). By proceeding with this survey, you understand the above and volunteer to participate in this study.
Many thanks.
