Dear Principal/Director, The goal of the California Skin Cancer Prevention Program is to decrease future incidence (new cases) of skin cancer among Californians. The World Health Organization (2000) reports that cases of skin cancer are on the rise. The American Cancer Society (2009) estimates there are more than one million cases of skin cancer diagnosed in United States each year. The purpose of this survey is to examine the current level of sun protection in preschool/kindergarten in selected counties in California. Our survey is directed at early school educators because if we can prevent early childhood sunburns, we can prevent the development of adult skin cancer. Since your school has a preschool and/or kindergarten program, we are asking you to participate in our survey. We will use this information to design a more helpful sun safety program for preschool/kindergarten classes. Please take a few minutes to complete our 10 question survey. Thank you in advance for taking the time to participate in our survey. We value your feedback.
