Eagle Forum of Georgia Smart Meter Survey

A smart meter is usually an electrical meter that records consumption of electrical energy in intervals of an hour or less and communicates that information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing purposes.  Smart meters enable two-way communication between the meter and the central system.  Unlike home energy monitors, smart meters can gather data for remote reporting via cell phone-type technology.

In recent years, many electricity consumers in Georgia have had their traditional analoge power meters replaced with a new smart meter.  This survey is to provide greater insight as to the methods used regarding installation of these meters.

Please note, information gathered from this survey will be submitted to the Georgia Public Service Commission.
