End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) has created a National Working Group to examine the issues related to UCR clearance methods for sexual assault cases. Our first step is to gather information on how law enforcement agencies are currently clearing their sexual assault cases.
For those in law enforcement responding to this survey, we would like you to review 6 brief scenarios involving a sexual assault report - and indicate how they would be cleared by personnel within your agency. We encourage you to answer the questions yourself, if you feel comfortable with your level of knowledge regarding clearance procedures in sexual assault cases. However, if you believe someone else within your agency would be a more appropriate source of information, please forward the original email to that person. In fact, given that people within the same agency may be using different practices to clear their cases, you can feel free to send it to more than one person in your department.
We also encourage you to forward this link to colleagues outside your agency, because the more information we have about current practices, the better guidance we will be able to offer for the future.
Please return your completed survey by Friday, February 17th.
