2012 GRASSROOTS OUTDOOR ALLIANCE ACTIVATION GRANTS Outdoor Nation is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications from individuals between the ages of 18 and 28 who are currently working at one of the more than 70 specialty outdoor stores belonging to the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. Interested individuals should also believe in connecting more people to outdoor spaces and increasing participation in outdoor recreation. This grant opportunity is in partnership with the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, a group of independent outdoor retailers dedicated to creating benefits to its members through sharing information, fostering communication, promoting best business practices and protecting our natural environment, locally and globally. A signature program of The Outdoor Foundation and supported by a diverse coalition of public, private and not-for-profit partners, Outdoor Nation and its community of young 'Outsiders' are committed to increasing and expanding outdoor youth participation by empowering young leaders to champion the outdoors on campuses and in communities. Over the past year, Outdoor Nation has awarded over $250,000 to youth for projects that reconnect young people with nature. Deadline: Proposals must be submitted to Outdoor Nation by May 15, 2012. Award Amount: Individuals between the ages of 18-28 can be awarded up to $2,500 for submissions that meet the requirements. The top 4 ideas will be awarded funding along with technical support and guidance from The Outdoor Foundation. Selection and Notification Process: Criteria for this grant have been established by Outdoor Nation and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance. Based on a rigorous review and selection process, Outdoor Nation and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance will announce the grant recipients on August 2, 2012.
