Raise Your Hand to Help Improve 3rd Grade Reading Proficiency

Until third grade, a child learns to read.  After third grade, a child reads to learn.

Within Berks County 23% of third graders are not reading proficiently and, according to national statistics, children who are struggling to read by the end of third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school.  If they also live in poverty, they are 13 times more likely to drop out.

You can help us change that.

Raise your hand and help us improve third grade reading proficiency in Berks County.  As we move forward with this important community-wide initiative, you'll see many opportunities to get involved.  For right now, give us your name, email address and phone number, and we'll keep you updated on our efforts via email - about once a month.  When you're done, we'll take you to our website, where you can learn ways to improve reading proficiency for the children in your life.

Thank you for your interest.
