Tethering of dogs: This term refers to the practice of fastening a dog to a stationary object or stake, usually in the owner's yard, as a means of keeping the animal under control. The current bill this session prohibits tethering a dog outside in extreme weather; with a poke, prong, or choke collar, and limits the type of tether which may be used. More info here:Tethering fact sheet  Would you lead, support or oppose a tethering bill?

Live Pigeon Shoot Contests: In Pennsylvania, contests still take place where live pigeons are mechanically launched from boxes in front of shooters who kill or wound thousands of animals. The current bill that addresses live pigeon shoots bans the launching or tethering of live animals for target practice, specifically directed to end live pigeon shoots or live turkey "block" shoots. More info here: Live pigeon shoot contest fact sheet Would you lead, support or oppose this bill?

Exotic Animals: The bill eliminates the private ownership of exotic animals and

restricts other types of ownership. Keeping wild and exotic animals as pets threatens public health and safety as well as animal welfare. Wild animals can attack, they can spread disease, and the average pet owner cannot provide the care they need in captivity. More info here: Exotic Animal Fact Sheet

Sunday hunting: Do you support or oppose lifting the current ban on Sunday Hunting? Wildlife groups and The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau want to preserve one day a week when people can enjoy the outdoors without fear of running into hunters or hearing gunfire and oppose lifting the ban. Proponents of Sunday hunting would like 7 days open to hunting in Pennsylvania.

Criminalizing undercover or whistleblower investigations of animal cruelty with Ag-Gag laws: There have been attempts to pass laws that seek to criminalize whistleblowing employees who document animal cruelty and food saftey issue on factory farms, or outlaw investigations of animal cruelty by criminalizing taking photos or videos on farms to expose problems. More info here: Ag-Gag Fact sheet.
