Dane County Aquatic Plant Harvesting Survey

Dane County Land and Water Resources Department manages an Aquatic Plant Harvesting Program to cut and harvest Eurasian watermilfoil and other invasives from county waters with the goals of:

(1) helping provide for reasonable use of the lakes for boating, fishing and swimming, while preserving the health and balance of the lake ecosystem; and

(2) maintaining flow in the Yahara River to prevent high water issues including flooding.

Plants are harvested using mechanical harvesting machines that are operated in accordance with approved plans and permits, and the harvesting priority maps. It may be helpful to keep this page open in another window so you can refer to the maps during the survey.

Please take this five minute survey and tell us what you think about aquatic plant management for area lakes and rivers!
