The Virginia Press Association is collecting information about Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) issues that our members may experience. This information will be used by VPA so we can take a proactive approach to fixing problems with FOIA. Any information collected will be kept confidential and used only in the aggregate unless we contact you and get permission to use your specific information in our lobbying and advocacy efforts.

Use this space to give a brief description of any issues that you have had with FOIA requests. Please include as much detail as possible including the entity you requested information from.


 

For example:

1. A meeting was called without proper notice - particularly an executive session of a board or council.
2. Someone uses the working paper exemption and you know it isn't working papers
3. You ask for specific information under a FOIA request and only part of it is furnished.
4. You ask for a police incident report - but are told you can't get it because it contains "personal information."

This information will be used as anecdotal evidence for the Virginia Press Association's lobbying efforts.
