Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), in the absence of protective factors and buffering relationships, can harm children's developing brains so profoundly that the effects show up decades later. Research shows that they cause much of chronic disease, mental illness, and are at the root of most violence.

Keep in mind...this is not positive stress. It is toxic stress that comes from living through months or years of traumatic experiences, such as a physically abusive father or alcoholic mother.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the ACEs survey. The information you provide will help us gather community-wide ACEs data to evaluate the need for mental health services, including children's early intervention and prevention efforts.
