The South Florida Water Management District (District) has begun preparing the 2018 Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan Update (LEC Plan Update) for completion by September 2018. The LEC water supply planning region includes Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties as well as most of Monroe County and parts of eastern Collier and Hendry counties. Water supply plans identify future water needs of the region and include programs and projects that will ensure adequate and sustainable water supplies to meet these needs while also meeting the water needs of natural systems. The 2018 LEC Plan Update will have a planning horizon of the year 2040.

Stakeholder input is critical to ensure the 2018 LEC Plan Update thoroughly addresses the water supply needs and issues of the region and identifies sound, workable solutions for those needs. During the public participation process, the District will coordinate closely with local government officials, water utilities, environmental interests, agricultural interests, community decision-makers, and other stakeholders.

This questionnaire is being distributed to stakeholders to develop an initial list of issues and concerns that should be considered in development of the 2018 LEC Plan Update. The questionnaire will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete.

If possible, please provide your responses by December 15, 2017. If you have questions, please contact Karin Smith at karsmith@sfwmd.gov or at (561) 682-2026.
