Giving Time is an annual program of public recognition of excellence in Purcell leadership.
It celebrates exceptional people and remarkable institutions that are selected from a deserving field of candidates. 

By this emphasis on the wise direction and support offered to those in need, a community defines a vision of greatness for its future-a culture of good character and success.
With that belief we honor the Guardians of Purcell who have been Giving Time, their precious gift, to making our home better.
The honorees come from the four sides of the town square:
  • Education - Vision Guardian
  • Business - Cornerstone Guardian
  • Government - Gateway Guardian
  • Human Services - Spirit Guardian

Cornerstone Guardian- Honoring distinguished CORPORATE leadership in the community. 

The honoree has given of its intellectual and financial assets to provide for the community good. This offering has supplied protection of the heritage and promotion of confidence in the future of the people and institution of Purcell. 


Qualifications: 

1 Employer Stability: The nominee has provided employment in Purcell for five or more years.

2. Leadership: The nominee has displayed leadership within the business field it operates. 

3. Innovation: the nominee has created products and/or services that expand its market(s). 

4. Community Involvement: The nominee is a member of the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce. The nominated firm has a record of faithfully supporting community activities that improve the quality of life in Purcell. Contributions of staff and finances have been made by the nominee to assure the cultural attractiveness of the area.

Vision Guardian- Honoring distinguished leadership in EDUCATION.
The honoree has exhibited character that witnesses of integrity and inclination for action in education. By remarkable sacrifice of self and sharing of knowledge, a vision has been realized-improvement in the goodwill and quality of life for the people and institutions of Purcell. 

Qualifications: 
1. Professional Involvement: The nominee has shown leadership in actions that improve the character and intellectual performance of those they teach.
2. Community Involvement: The nominee has been immersed in Purcell activities a minimum of five years and must be a member or an employee of an organization that is a member of the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.
3. Character: The nominee is respected by his/her peers for selfless dedication to improving our community.

Spirit Guardian- Honoring distinguished HUMAN SERVICES.

Honoring an extraordinary person or organization. The honoree has gracefully sacrificed personal gain and served the community with a passionate effort to devise improvement in the condition of the common Purcell citizen.    

1. Community Service: The person or organization displays commitment to improving Purcell quality of life in the spirit of the award's description. 

2. Examples of Nominees: A person or organization (charity, church, non-profit, or service group). The nominee is not required to be a member of the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.

Gateway Guardian- Honoring distinguished servant leadership in GOVERNMENT. 
The honoree has shown faithfulness to the highest of principals in the governance service. He/She has willingly sacrificed their privacy and pride in order to provide steady, thoughtful leadership. The person has compassionately listened, abandoned bias, wisely judged and graciously acknowledged what is right for Purcell without personal gain. 

Qualifications: 
1. The servant leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead.
2. Ten characteristics are:  Listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people and building community.
