The Saint John Region Chamber membership has consistently cited responsible resource development as a top priority for the economic health of our community and province. As a Chamber, we remain open-minded and supportive about any project that, undertaken responsibly, will further the economic growth of Saint John and New Brunswick as a whole.
 
We have recently seen discussions in the news and in the political arena about lifting the moratorium on hydraulic fracturing of natural gas in our province. This decision could include lifting the ban on a province wide basis, or on a geographical basis depending on the wishes of the particular community.
 
As well, Premier Higgs has announced his plans to seek the help of other premiers to create a pipeline holding company to get the asset over the regulatory finish line.
