2019 Homeless PIT Count Volunteer Sign Up Form
RequiredRequired Question(s)
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the the 2019 Homeless PIT Count in Hillsborough County on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

All volunteers need to complete the Volunteer Sign Up form (below), including the selection of a volunteer site and shift.  (NOTE: A separate submission is required for each volunteer.)

Volunteers will have the option to volunteer to help with:

Street Count Volunteers and Deployment Site Assistants
Volunteers will meet at their selected deployment site for their selected shifts and form teams of 3-4 people; with each team given a mapped area to canvass. Each team is then 'deployed' to canvass their assigned mapped area.  Team members will conduct the PIT Count Survey with homeless persons they meet during their canvassing. The Lunch Hot Spot shift will deploy to various sites serving lunch on the day of the Count.

In addition to volunteers who are willing to conduct the Street Count, volunteers are needed to be "deployment site assistants" who can assist with the clerical tasks such as volunteer check-in/sign-out.  Deployment Site Assistants will also be required to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the regular volunteer shift and remain for at least 30 minutes following the end of the shift.

We recommend the Lunch Hot Spot shift or Deployment Site Assistant role for persons who may have physical limitations or other reservations about canvassing the streets.

Volunteer Training - Required
Remember that all volunteers must complete the required 2019 Homeless PIT Count Volunteer Training prior to the day of the homeless count.  Training information will be provided at the end of this registration form and included in your confirmation email.

Training options include: various in-person trainings (required for all first time volunteers); and the on-line refresher training (for returning volunteers).

Confirmation
You will receive a confirmation of your volunteer deployment location and shift within 5 business days of submitting this Volunteer Sign Up Form.

In the section below, you will be able to select the location and shift you would like to volunteer to help with the 2019 Homeless PIT Count.

Please look at each question carefully to ensure you are selecting the location and shift you would want.  If you do not want to volunteer for that specific time/type, you can choose the "I do not want to volunteer for this shift" answer.

Please Note the Following:

a. Every effort will be made to accommodate volunteer's preferences for volunteer location and shift, however each location and shift does have a maximum number of volunteers needed.  Once the limit has been reached, you may be asked to select a different deployment location and/or shift.

b. If you are selecting to volunteer for a street count deployment location/shift, please note that the deployment area is directly related to the area the deployment site will be located and not necessary the area the volunteer at that site will canvass.  For example, volunteers at the University Area deployment location may be asked to canvass areas in North Tampa.  Volunteers at the Westshore deployment location may be asked to canvass areas in South Tampa.
