VASCD 2019 Annual Conference Poster Session Proposal
RequiredRequired Question(s)
VASCD's 2019 Annual Conference will be held in Williamsburg on December 4 and 5. Our theme is "Learning Begins with Culture". Exciting, inspiring work is going on in Virginia's schools every day, and we are anxious for practitioners to share their work through the VASCD conference.

This year in addition to our regular concurrent sessions we are inviting practitioners to submit proposals for poster sessions. Poster sessions are designed to highlight innovative practices from Virginia schools and classrooms in an informal, conversational format.  If you have implemented an idea worth sharing but you are not interested in making a traditional presentation, a poster session may be for you!  During designated times during the conference, we will ask that presenters be available at their posters to share with and answer questions from attendees who will circulate throughout the poster sessions. Think of it as an open house!

We have identified five key questions to serve as organizers of our conference content. Though it is not required for poster sessions to relate to one of these questions, we will give priority to those that do.

1. How do we forge meaningful relationships with students and their families?
2. What do teachers and students do differently in "deeper learning classrooms"?
3. What steps can we take in our classrooms or school to support students' social and emotional health?
4. What professional learning and social-emotional support do educators need in order to thrive and give their best to students?
5. How can we fuse the 5Cs with explicit skill and content instruction?

Questions should be directed to Conference Chair Julie Myers at myersj@fcpsk12.net or to Laurie McCullough at vascded@gmail.com.

Proposals must be submitted by July 15. Selections will be made and communicated by August 5.
