2020 Ontario Championships Event Crew Sign-up - Enercare Centre, Toronto

Thank you for your interest in joining the Event Crew for the 2020 Ontario Championships (OC's) in Toronto. This event will see all 11U-18U girls and boys club teams from across the province compete under one roof at the Enercare Centre from April 16 - 21, 2020. 

Our Event Crew will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful hosting of Ontario Championships for the fastest growing amateur sport in Canada. We are looking for reliable, energetic and hardworking people to join our Crew to make them our best OC's event to date!

If you are interested in joining the Event Crew, please fill out this application form in full. Those who have been selected will be contacted (by March 15th at the latest) to confirm shift dates and times. 

Key Event Information
Event Crew shifts available from: April 15 - 21, 2020   
  • General shifts during competition days are morning wave (6:30am - 3:00pm) or afternoon wave (2:30pm - 11:00pm). 
  • Playoff days on Saturday and Tuesday have a modified shift (7:00am-6:00pm). 
  • Athlete testing shifts are 11:00am-5:00pm on regular competition days and 9:30am to 1:00pm on playoff days (Saturday and Tuesday). 
  • Event Crew will receive a staff t-shirt.
  • Training will be provided. 
  • Event Crew are responsible for their own transportation, accommodations and meal costs. This will not be covered by the OVA.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who are able to work the entirety of the tournament.
  • All applicants who are selected as Event Crew will be required to sign an OVA independent Contractor contract, sign the OVA Waiver Form as well as submit a Police Record Check (PRC) with Vulnerable Sector Screening, if over 18 (obtained in the past 3 years).
 
Event Crew will be compensated using the following fee structure:

EVENT #1
April 15: Team Check in @ $100/shift 

April 16: morning or afternoon @ $150/shift

April 16: athlete testing @ $100/shift

April 17: morning or afternoon @ $150/shift
April 17: Athlete testing @ $100/shift

April 18: One shift @ $175
April 18: Athlete testing @ $75/shift

Please select the roles you are interested it: 

Court Crew - Court maintenance, net height changes, general maintenance of playing venue, ensuring courts are safe/ready prior to each match, assist with court issues (flooring, referee stands), repair or correct tears\issues to taped boundary lines.
Info Booth Attendant - Responsible for running the information booths, answering spectator questions, assisting with recruiter and media sign in, conduct surveys with event participants and 50/50 ticket sales.
Roving 50/50 Ticket Sales - Responsible for circulating throughout Enercare Centre selling tickets (min 16 years old), cash handling, operating tablets for online ticket sales, must have an energetic, friendly and outgoing personality.
Team Check-in - Assist with the coach check-in process (verifying rosters, proof of age, coaching certification, and distribution of team bags), Direct coaches to OVA staff/representative for any roster related issues.
Floaters - Assigned duties as required through out the event.
Athlete Testing - Assist with keeping track of various physical standards such as height, reach and spike touch of volleyball athletes. Various tools will be used to help you track these stats (iPads, VERTECs, measuring tape, etc.
Awards Crew - Assist with set-up/tear down of awards area, assist with presentation of medals, assist with organizing all prizing (medals, banners, hats, etc), assist with the collection of medal sheets, assist with awards area traffic flow/crowd control.
