What is the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce COVID-19 Support Program?

This support program is established to assist small businesses in our area impacted by COVID-19 mitigation efforts. Due to funding limitations, the program is scheduled to conclude on July 31st but may be extended as additional funding becomes available.



Who is managing the program?

The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce Executive Board shall be administrators of the program. The Chamber has committed $25,000 to support small businesses who are members of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce.



Who can submit a funding request to the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce?

Priority will be given to businesses which were closed, laid off employees, limited operations due to COVID-19 mitigation or can show other direct, negative impacts threatening the ability of the business to continue operations long-term. The business must be in good standing with Chamber dues to qualify for the Support Program. All funding requests will be reviewed by an Executive committee consisting of representatives of business members of the LC Chamber of Commerce. The Committee will make a best faith effort to meet an applicant's request, but all distributions will be contingent upon the degree of financial need, the timeliness of application submissions and the availability of funds. Unless otherwise obligated, the funding can be used for utility bills, such as gas, water/sewer, electricity, internet, phone services, or rent.
 
How to demonstrate the financial impact?

Applicants are asked to demonstrate how the business has been negatively impacted. Applicants will be asked to estimate the amount they pay in utilities. If approved, documentation of the bill or invoice will be required.

We want to help as many Chamber members as possible, so please prioritize your list of bills from most critical to least critical. 


What is the maximum funding request? Can I reapply?

The maximum request for funding is limited to $1,000 for a 45-day period. After 45 days an applicant may submit another request provided funding is available.


How will funds be received?

Once a business has been awarded funding, the business will provide the necessary documentation to the Chamber to allow direct payments to vendors, landlords, etc. The Chamber will pay expenses directly on behalf of the funding recipient. The Chamber shall not pay any COVID-19 Chamber Support funds directly to the business.
